Norwegian americana, is steadily making a name for itself, both at home, and internationally. Silver Lining has quickly established themselves at the forefront of this movement. In January of 2017, they released their debut EP I’ll Be Waiting for You (In the Grey), which was critically lauded and spawned an unlikely “streaming hit” with the single “Grey”. The song surpassed one million streams on Spotify long ago. After the EP release, the band toured Norway extensively, with slots at festivals such as Norwegian Wood, Audunbakken, Sørveiv and Trondheim Calling. During all this, they also found time to record their debut album, which is due in June 2018. The first single from the album, “Heart and Mind Alike” was released March 9th.

The members of Silver Lining met through a mutual fascination and love for Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings, on a tribute night for their heroes. It was quickly evident that the voices of Stine Andreassen and Live Miranda Solberg (known from other projects The Northern Belle and Louien), worked extremely well together, with the ability to create wonderful harmonies. The harmonies are not the only beautiful ingredient. The quartet plays acoustic and electric guitars, dobro en pedal steel, creating a folky sound, where especially Bjørnar Brandseth shows off his skill and versatility. Halvor Falck Johansen also contributes guitars and his own songs, with a voice reminiscent of Dylan or a young Townes.

Besides the aforementioned Welch, the band draws inspiration from artists such as Union Station, Joan Shelley, Milk Carton Kids, Joni Mitchell and Laura Marling. In addition to playing with Louien and The Northern Belle, the members of Silver Lining have played and collaborated with acts such as Darling West, Torgeir Waldemar, Dig Deeper and The Humble Servants.
